EcoFair Community Sustainability Challenge

How do YOU Eco? Discover how your practices hold up!

Each EcoFair challenge, hosted by a sponsor, partner, or supporter of the Jackson EcoFair, will have a point value based on it’s difficulty, cost, and impact. Log your challenge items for EcoFair Challenge points, and send in a picture of YOU doing the challenge for additional points! Prizes from EcoFair community partners will be awarded in two ways: weekly based on total point accrual, and randomly by raffle.

The Challenges:

Please note that if you currently participate in any of the Challenge actions, you can take credit for those items

Energy

• Sign up for Green Power – 30 points
• Turn down your thermostat 10 degrees when you leave your home – 1 point/day
  
• Home Energy Audit – 15 points
  

Transportation

• Bike, Bus, or Walk to work or on errands – 1 point/day
  • 1 bonus point for Proterra 
• Idle free for less than 30 sec – 1 point/day
• For EV Owners, charge at local charging site – 5 points/charge
  
• Join START Bike (10 pts)
• Offset travel (air or road) through The Good Traveller Program – 15 points

Waste

• Participate in Spring Town Cleanup May 10-16 – 10 points
• Drop off food compost – 10 points
  
• Drop off recycling load – 10 points
  

Business 

• Apply for or renew your membership in the RRR Business Leaders Program
  • Business owner/manager or organization head – 10 points
  • Employee of an existing member/new applicant organization – 1 point
    
• Apply for the Business Emerald Sustainability Tier or BEST Program
  • Business owner/manager or organization head – 20 points
  • Employee of an existing member/new applicant organization – 2 points
    
• Sign up for Commercial Green Power – 30 points

Food

• Purchase food from a local producer (local = within 100 miles) – 1 point/local product purchased
  • (6 tomatoes = 1 point; 5 apples, 1 head lettuce, carton of eggs = 3 points)
• Use Avant – 10 points
  
• Eat a “Use it Up Meal” – 10 points
  

Water

• Sign up Trout Friendly Lawn Program – 10 points
  
• Install a low-flow showerhead or sink aerator – 5 points
  
• Run your dishwasher or washer machine when it is completely full  – 1 point
